When the wind's ripped tiles off, the ridge has blown off, or water's coming through the ceiling right now, you need a phone that gets answered and a crew that turns up. We answer the phones ourselves, Lyndon or Georgina, and aim to make you safe the same day for genuine emergencies.

Service overview
No jargon, no filler. Here's exactly what this service is, who benefits from it, and why we don't take shortcuts on it.
Emergency roofing is any situation where the roof has failed enough to threaten the property inside, storm-lifted tiles, a blown-off ridge, a punctured flat roof, a lightning-struck chimney, or a leak actively running down a bedroom wall. The first job is make-safe: stop further damage, tarp, secure. The permanent repair follows once you're dry.
Homeowners waking to storm damage, landlords with tenants ringing at 6am, property managers with a leaking commercial unit, and buyers whose survey has flagged an urgent make-safe before completion. Also anyone whose insurer has instructed emergency make-safe pending a claim.
You need emergency cover when tiles are missing after high winds, when a ridge tile has blown off, when water is actively coming through the ceiling, after a tree branch or debris has struck the roof, when a chimney stack is unsafe, or when a flat roof has split during heavy rain.
Emergency roofing is not the time for the cheapest ladder-based bodge. Wet roof work is genuinely dangerous, falls from height are the single biggest cause of construction fatalities in the UK. Our crew is PASMA and IPAF trained, edge-protection equipped, and insured for £15 million in combined liability. That matters most when the weather is worst.
What happens if it's ignored
The most expensive roofing decisions aren't the ones you make when you call us, they're the ones you make when you don't.
A leak left running for 72 hours saturates insulation, warps plasterboard, and can short internal wiring. Same-day make-safe stops the water, and the compound damage, the moment we arrive.
Wet or high-wind conditions are the worst possible time to be on a roof unprotected. A single fall costs more than any repair, and household insurance rarely covers DIY roof injuries.
Uninsured tarping laid over broken tiles fails within 24 hours. Correct emergency make-safe pins the tarp properly, secures the perimeter, and gives you three to four weeks of protection while the permanent repair is planned.
One missing tile becomes three within a season; wind-lifted ridge becomes a full ridge failure at the next storm. Emergency make-safe closes the exposure and stops the cascade.
Our process
Step 1
Ring 024 7671 4341. Lyndon or Georgina answers, describe what you're seeing, and we assess urgency. Genuine emergencies (active leak, storm damage, unsafe stack) get same-day attention where possible.
Step 2
We arrive with tarps, battens, sandbags and lead flashings. The immediate goal is to stop water ingress and secure any loose materials, usually a tarp pinned over the affected area, and any dislodged tiles removed if unsafe.
Step 3
Once the property is safe, we survey the wider roof by drone. Storm damage often extends beyond the visible failure, ridge, verges and flashings all get checked in one pass.
Step 4
You receive an itemised written quote for the permanent repair, with drone photography of the damage. This is the document your insurer needs for a claim. Emergency make-safe cost is credited if you proceed with the permanent repair.
Step 5
Permanent works are usually booked within 1–2 weeks. Once complete, we walk the property, share finished photography, and provide a written workmanship guarantee.
Why Coventry chooses us
The phone is answered pretty much any time. If we can't attend same-day, we'll tell you honestly and book the next available slot.
For genuine emergencies, active leaks, missing tiles, unsafe ridges, we aim to attend the same day. Otherwise next-day is our standard.
Every emergency visit is documented with drone photography and an itemised written quote, exactly the format insurers need for storm damage claims.
PASMA and IPAF trained crew, MEWP access where the roof is unsafe to walk, edge protection on every job. Emergency work is the moment safety matters most.
£5m public liability, £10m employers' liability. Uncommon in emergency work, and non-negotiable in ours.
The make-safe cost is deducted from the permanent repair quote when you proceed with us.
Deep detail
The specifics that separate a roof built to last from one built to invoice. Read it or skim it, either way, it's the answer to "what actually goes on my roof?"
Wind-lifted or missing tiles, blown-off ridge tiles, punctured or split flat roofs after debris strike, leaks from failed valleys, flashings or skylights, chimney stack cracks and lightning strikes, tree branch impact damage, gutter overflow flooding fascias, and storm-lifted lead flashings. We also handle emergency asbestos-roof containment on commercial buildings where a sheet has been dislodged.
For localised damage: a heavy-duty tarp pinned with roofing laths, secured at all edges with roofing nails or timber battens; loose tiles removed and stacked, ridge voids sealed with temporary flashings. For structural damage: temporary props, plywood boarding over the void, and edge protection. Every make-safe is designed to last 4–6 weeks pending permanent repair.
Coventry sits in a moderate wind exposure zone, winter storms regularly lift tiles on older roofs. Our drone report, annotated photography and itemised written quote are the standard evidence package UK household insurers require for storm damage claims. We regularly liaise with loss adjusters on the customer's behalf.
Residential: usually a domestic scaffold or ladder-and-harness access, single-day make-safe. Commercial: often MEWP access, extended make-safe over multiple days, co-ordination with facilities management. Both prioritise stopping water ingress before anything else.

A roof repair addresses a localised failure: slipped or missing tiles, a leaking valley, a failed lead flashing, cracked cement ridge bedding, blocked or split gutters, damaged verges, or a failed skylight seal. The work is targeted, we don't quote for a re-roof when a repair will genuinely last another 15 years.

Chimney repair work covers everything above the roof line: brick repointing or rebuilds, replacement of cracked flaunching (the mortar cap around the pot), pot replacement, cowl fitting, lead flashing renewal, and where the stack is compromised, a full below-roofline rebuild. Each is a distinct fix, we identify which of them your chimney actually needs.

A flat roof is any roof pitched below 10°, extensions, garages, dormers, porches, bay windows, single-storey commercial buildings. We install and replace flat roofs in two main systems: EPDM synthetic rubber and high-performance torch-on felt. Each has a place; the right choice depends on span, foot traffic, drainage and budget.
