Knighton, Evington and Braunstone are full of 1920s–30s semis whose ridge and hip tiles are still cement-bedded. The mortar cracks, drops out and lets wind-driven rain in at the highest point of the roof. Since 2015 BS 5534 has required mechanical fixing, so every ridge we replace goes back as a dry-fix system.
